John and Helen Haverstock Memorial Scholarship


The Rotary Club Of La Porte, in honor of the late John and Helen Haverstock, will award scholarships in the spring of 2008. The scholarships will be based on the merit, academic performance and financial need of the student.

  • To request a scholarship application, an e-mail must be sent (see below) on or before February 17th, 2008.  Applications will be sent no later than February 20th, 2008.

  • Completed applications must be postmarked on or before March 31, 2008.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to request an application and be eligible for the John and Helen Haverstock Memorial Scholarship.

  • Be a legal resident of La Porte County, Indiana excluding those who reside in the Michigan City Area Schools District.  (There is an active Rotary Club in Michigan City that supports students from that school district.)

  • Be a graduate or senior in one of the following high schools: LaCrosse, LaLumiere, La Porte, New Prairie, South Central or Westville.

  • Complete a FAFSA application for the coming school year and include a copy of the FAFSA with the scholarship application.  (For information about the FAFSA form, go on the web to www.fafsa.ed.gov)

  • Attend a 2 or 4 year, accredited vocational school, college or university.

  • Be willing to participate in an interview if chosen as a scholarship finalist.

  • Be willing to attend an awards presentation at a Rotary Club Of La Porte meeting.

  • Be willing to attend your school-sponsored award and scholarship night.
